PLUMBING HELP, WHEN IT MATTERS

Emergency plumbing in Evansville, IN

An unexpectedly high water bill, a toilet that will not stop filling or water escaping from a pipe? Our 24/7 inquiry line can discuss a private plumbing visit. Start with the active problem and your Evansville address.

02

An active leak comes before the bill

  1. If water is escaping, describe where it is and whether a safely accessible household shutoff stopped it.
  2. Stay clear of wet electrical equipment and do not enter a flooded crawl space.
  3. EWSU says its meter must only be accessed or operated by utility representatives. Do not open or turn off the utility meter yourself.
  4. For sewage overflowing indoors, stop using affected fixtures and keep people out of the contaminated area.

Help for your Evansville plumbing problem

EWSU emergency reporting and a private repair appointment serve different purposes. Choose a guide below and keep the utility findings with the repair records.

04

What a high-use bill can tell the plumber

Have the billing dates, recorded use and any recent household changes ready. Explain whether a toilet refills without being flushed, a heater has visible water around it or dampness appears only while an appliance runs. Keep those observations separate from a guess about a broken underground line.

Ask what a leak investigation includes and what evidence would justify opening a floor or excavating. Tell the provider about earlier repairs so the same checks are not repeated without a reason. The pipe and leak guide and toilet and fixture guide cover these common starting points.

05

Keep repair records for an EWSU adjustment request

EWSU's leak-adjustment page says many private leaks are the owner's or tenant's responsibility to repair. After a repair, an adjustment may be considered; it is not automatic. The published application window is 90 days from mailing of the bill in which the leak first appeared. The utility requests repair evidence such as receipts, an invoice or photographs.

Ask the plumber for a clear description of the leak location, work completed and repair date. Save the original bill and the utility application tracking number. Check the current EWSU requirements for your account rather than deducting an expected credit from the repair budget. A private booking does not submit an adjustment application.

06

Sewer backup or water-line break: report it to EWSU

EWSU lists 812-421-2130 for water-line breaks, discolored water or sewer emergencies at any time. For sewer backups, its guidance describes checking the main and referring a private service-line problem to a plumbing or sewer contractor when the main is clear. Our inquiry line is separate from the utility.

Give the first affected drain, when the backup began and any utility findings. If several fixtures are involved, say so before arranging a single-toilet repair. Ask whether a private quote covers clearing, inspection and any later repair separately. Contamination cleanup may need its own contractor and scope; it is not automatically part of drain service.

Can a running toilet qualify for an EWSU bill adjustment?

Do not assume eligibility from the size of the bill. EWSU applies its current customer rules to the type of leak and supporting records. Ask the utility about the specific account and repair before expecting a credit.

Can I arrange an Evansville call outside normal business hours?

Yes. Our plumbing inquiry line answers 24/7. Explain whether water is still flowing and ask for the accepting provider, earliest available visit, assessment fee and after-hours charge. The call does not establish a guaranteed arrival time.

What if the heater is leaking as well as supplying no hot water?

Mention the visible leak first and whether it is near electrical equipment. Have the heater type, approximate age and model ready if safely readable. Ask whether the visit is for diagnosis only or can include a repair; do not remove covers or adjust gas controls.
